Join us as we photograph the many iconic scenes in Acadia National Park and along the Maine Coast during the peak of fall color. We'll focus on shooting lighthouses, quaint harbors, rugged scenic coastal settings and colorful tree-lined ponds and streams. For photographers, there may be no better time than fall to capture the magic of Acadia, the first National Park east of the Mississippi. Each year, Acadia becomes a photographer’s palette as the birch, beech, maple, ash, and oaks show off their colorful display of reds, golds, and oranges. Acadia quite possibly could be the crown jewel of the east coast. The park features miles of undeveloped rocky coast, towering granite summits with amazing views, countless lakes and ponds and lots of opportunities for intimate forest scenes and quiet harbors. It’s arguably the east's best fall foliage hot spot. Join us for an inspiration packed exploration of this incredible park and the mid-coast region of the state. Enjoy the chance to capture iconic photographs synonymous with Acadia such as the rising sun from Sand Beach and Boulder Beach, serene ponds like Bubble Pond and Jordan Pond, and the classic Somesville Foot Bridge. Through a combination of hands-on, field based shoots and in-room sessions, you’ll learn tips and tricks for working with the varying moods, weather, and light Acadia presents to create images of stunning nature scenes of this area. |

Learning the advantages of long exposures of water at sunrise will allow you to create some very ethereal images of the rocks, water and sunrise colors. After our first four nights based at Acadia, we will venture down the coast for two more nights and days of exploring harbor scenes, more lighthouses and back roads with ponds and streams to add even more beautiful images to those taken earlier. Among the areas we will visit along the coastal section include Pemaquid Lighthouse, New Harbor, Marshall Point Lighthouse, and Sabbathday Lake as well as some back roads with beautiful settings. During this workshop many shooting locations will be just beyond the parking lot and a few will involve scrambling over and down tricky rock settings. Trail surfaces and those beyond the parking lot are generally uneven so hiking boots are recommended. You don't have to be in tip-top shape, but enjoyment levels will be enhanced by good health. During this trip you will learn:
