Colorado Wildflowers Photo Workshop

$1,895

Flight Destination: Montrose, CO

In this hectic world, it’s nice to be able to escape into our inner sanctum known as photography. It’s a place we can enjoy, forget the worries left behind, and find solace behind the camera. No place better exemplifies this than a visit to southwestern Colorado to head high into the mountains to find fields of wildflowers laid out in front of you to explore with both your eye and your camera.

With all five life zones, Colorado has more types of wildflowers than any other state. This trip is based out of Silverton and Ouray and features several of the top wildflower spots in the country - Yankee Boy Basin and American Basin - as well as several other great wildflower spots. In addition to the wildflowers, a unique mining ghost town will be visited.

Learn a variety of new techniques to take your photography to the next level. Explore the use of mylar, water glass, panning and zooming to create wildflower abstract photos you never before thought possible. Learn things with equipment attachments that will also take your photography to a new level. The things you will see through your viewfinder will amaze you.

You will use your photographic eye to look at things in a completely different way than you have before and you can take these new techniques to other subjects well after this trip.

Find out about new close-up photography techniques that will allow you to explore the intricate beauty found deep within an individual flower. Besides going deep within an individual flower, enjoy fields of flowers with great mountain backdrops, flowers and waterfalls, and flowers and a stream.

The beauty that will unfold in front of your eyes will guarantee a great learning experience.

Four-wheel drive roads will be encountered daily on this trip as well as high elevation, sometimes at greater than 12,000 feet.

Macro photography in these areas will make the time fly by. What seems like just a short time at a given stop, actually turns out to be several hours. While it might take a minute or so to set up that perfect shot, all of the work is well worth it when you look at your images and notice things you didn't see through the viewfinder.

Each area we go to on this trip has been visited many times over the years, so a great working knowledge of each spot and what is there is something you never have to worry about on this trip. With having lived in Colorado for close to 18 years before moving to Texas in late 2008, lots of trips to this area have been made as this is one of my favorite places to go, even when not leading workshops to the area.
