Great Sand Dunes Photo Workshop

Flight Destination: Colorado Springs, CO

Explore the tallest dunes in North America. Nestled at the base of the Sangre de Christo mountains in southern Colorado. The landscape photography here is unlike any other spot in the country. You will be sure to go home with some great compositions with lighting and using your photographic eye being a big emphasis.

Primary shooting hours are early in the morning and late afternoon and evening when the sun casts shadows on the dunes to create some wonderful shots of contrasting light, shadows and form. Midday times will have in-room programs and resting.

Depending upon how the fall color season has played itself out, there might be a chance for a little color in a few spots in the area to add to the adventure.

Daily treks up onto the dunes will put us in perfect spots to get great angles with the dunes in the foreground and mountains in the background.

At this time of year the sun is at a very good angle to allow for several hours of light and shadow both in the morning and in the evening. With this being a weekend workshop, there could be crowds on the dunes at various times but we will be there early enough that plenty of photo ops will be available without people.
