Many have asked about a trip to photograph polar bears, and now the trip is a reality.

Experience an entirely different polar bear trip. With interest in photographing these wonderful creatures at an all-time high, new areas are emerging as to where they can be photographed. This trip features a visit to an island off the north coast of Alaska where the bears come to congregate from late August into October.

Besides the almost guaranteed opportunity to photograph the polar bears in various settings, the northern lights could be visible at night for those wanting to add to the magic on this trip.

We will fly from Fairbanks north on Sept. 9 and return on the 13th. This will allow for more than four days of shooting of the bears.

While in the area where the polar bear congregate, arctic fox are more than likely to show up when the bears are off in other areas.

Two boat rides to an outer island where the bears take a break from eating might also bring about images of them in the water. Days for this activity will be adjusted in case of weather.

The setting here is unique in that we will not be confined to buggies, but rather be out on the ground at a good safe photographic distance. The bears are used to people in the area and there have been no problems. The images here and on the Alaska Wildlife gallery page were taken while walking around the area.
